When Maple kidded this year (2018), she gave me her normal 3 kids...2 girls, 1 boy. I was THRILLED! The 2 girls were perfect in every way. The boy...well...honestly, I didnt really look at him much.
One day...the triplets were about 4 weeks old...and I had someone here to buy a buckling. So I brought out Pistachio and Charlita's boy. Charlita's boy was a shoe in as he was sooo colorful and had blue eyes. But that day...when Pistachio was running around...I saw him for the first time. I saw how wide his stance was. I saw how he carried his tail and how high he held his head. I saw how fluid he is when he moves.....and I fell in love.
And what is not to love? His dam is Maple Nut....MY FAVORITE (I only have about 50 favorites, but she is a definite favorite). And Don Juan sires some of my best kids. So it is a no-brainer to keep a buckling from this pairing. and of course...I kept a doeling too ;)
